Annie - Master

Annie has been making people feel great about their hair since 2007, and has been a part of the Zen Salon & Spa family since 2009. Her passion for creating beautiful hair began as a child with her four sisters being her favorite guinea pigs. Since graduating from the Salon Professional Academy in Iowa City, she has gone through extensive training with some of the most talented stylists in our industry. She has received advanced training in hair cutting from the Advanced Aveda Academy in New York City as well as specialized bridal hair and makeup training from the Aveda Institute in Minneapolis.

As part of the cutting and styling educational team on our staff, she is passionate about being a leader in our industry and helping train our staff. The relationships she is able to build with her clients is her favorite part of her job. She is always up for new and fun challenges behind the chair and would love to be the fairy godmother that makes all your hair wishes come true!

Amanda - Salon Lead - Master

Attending Capri College in Cedar Rapids was the start of Amanda’s career in cosmetology. She graduated in December of 2007 and joined the Zen team in August of 2009. Since then, she has expanded her knowledge immensely and has become the men’s cutting coach at Zen. Through advanced hair coloring, cutting, and texturing classes, she is able to give her guests the one of a kind experience they desire. She enjoys updating haircuts and creating custom color for each of her guests. She guarantees giving each of her guests the best results possible.

Tara - Master

After attending the Aveda Institute in Des Moines Tara came to work at Zen Salon & Spa in February 2011. While working at Zen she has been able to fulfill her aspirations in hair design. Meeting new people everyday and having the ability to make someone feel gorgeous, allows her to have the most amazing job possible. The courses she has taken through Aveda have allowed her to be an advanced hair designer and Zen's women's cutting educator. She thrives in an artistic environment and will always do her best to make sure you feel beautiful and taken care of.

Kaci - Manager - Master

Kaci attended the Aveda Institute in Des Moines, has been a stylist with Zen Salon & Spa since March 2014, and is our current color educator. Her goal is to give her guests the best desired outcome while maintaining the integrity of their hair. Kaci’s favorite service to provide is color. She chose to work for Zen and Aveda because of the environmentally friendly atmosphere, naturally derived products, and to be a part of the great feeling of giving back to society.

Frankie - Advanced

Frankie's love for hair design and makeup application began as a young girl when she spent her free time researching designs and trying them on herself and friends. She is a graduate of the Aveda Institute in Des Moines, received her cosmetology license, and started at Zen in September of 2015. She enjoys the process of giving personal attention to her guests and making them feel pampered while in her chair. She enjoys being creative and seeing her hair design through an artistic lens.

Mischka - Esthetician

Mischka joined our team in June 2016. She graduated from Capri College in November of 2015 and has been practicing esthetics since graduation. She is a brow arch expert and offers facials, waxing, body wraps, and makeup applications. Constantly educating herself on the newest trends with makeup and skincare is one of her passions. Mischka loves helping clients achieve their skin goals by educating them about their individual skin needs. Her top priority is to have her clients leave Zen feeling relaxed and confident about their skin and appearance.

Tatiana - Massage Therapist

Jenny - Owner

Jenny is a native of Dyersville, Iowa, and grew up understanding the importance of extending compassion to others and the power found in a one on one connection. She experienced college at Briar Cliff in Sioux City before eventually following her heart and attending Capri Cosmetology College in Dubuque, Iowa. Practicing her craft behind the chair was a joy every day and she knew she was meant to excel in this industry whether through changing guests' perceptions of themselves on a daily basis or in a larger aspect.

Career choices led Jenny's family to settle in Williamsburg, Iowa and opened the opportunity of salon management at Zender's Salon and Spa. Within two years, she was offered partnership of Zender's and in 2015 became sole owner, changing the name to Zen Salon & Spa. Jenny attributes the connection she has with the guests and staff to be the heart of her success. Jenny takes pleasure in leading the staff in all things possible for them in their careers and takes great pride in the guidance they seek from her. She is honored to be part of something so outstanding, a team that is passionate and confident in their talents, enhancing customer service to an unimaginable level,  and to be involved in growing not only the salon culture, but also helping her team achieve their career goals and personal dreams.

Marisa

Marisa has been with Zen since September 2017. She is passionate about her job at Zen and loves working alongside amazing and talented people. Marisa is outgoing and welcoming. At Zen, her goal is to make every client feel fabulous. She studies business at the University of Iowa and plans on working in the field of marketing post graduation.
